internal family systems
all parts of you are welcome
I work with the Internal Family Systems method.
IFS is a gentle approach to self-exploration that allows you to connect more deeply with your inner world.
There’s a kind of exhaustion that comes from always trying to hold everything together, working harder, pleasing everyone, staying busy so nothing falls apart. Beneath that constant effort often live protective parts that learned long ago that being good, useful, or invisible was the safest way to survive. When love or stability felt uncertain, these parts stepped up, taking on the job of keeping you safe from criticism, conflict, or rejection.
For years, they’ve done their best to protect you. But over time, the same strategies that once kept you safe can start to wear you down. Life becomes a cycle of striving and managing, with little space left for rest, joy, or genuine connection. And when the pressure builds too high, when the loneliness or pain breaks through, other parts may rush in to help you cope, perhaps through overworking, numbing, controlling food, or staying endlessly occupied.
Internal Family Systems invites you to see yourself through a different lens:
What if there is nothing wrong with you, and the parts of you that struggle simply need understanding, compassion, and care?
Internal Family Systems (IFS), developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz in the 1980s, is a gentle and transformative approach that helps us recognize, understand, and heal all parts of ourselves, including those carrying unresolved trauma, so we can move from survival modus and pain toward inner calm, compassion, and wholeness.
IFS is about gently getting to know these parts, and going to the source where the pain was first felt. As you build that inner trust, your parts start to ease up. They realize you, your Self, is here now, steady and caring, capable of leading. And that's when something shifts. You move from just surviving to actually living. From shutting down to opening up. Trauma doesn't heal by rejecting parts of yourself. It heals by welcoming them back home.
